Karrueche Tran Was “Terrified” of Running Into Chris Brown at BET Awards (Report)

Despite producers doing their best to keep the two apart, Karrueche Tran was reportedly “terrified” of running into Chris Brown at the 2017 BET Awards.

Chris performed with Gucci Mane during the show while Karrueche, who was just granted a 5-year restraining order against her ex, was a presenter. A source tells Hollywood Life she was on pins and needles the entire night.

“Karrueche was always watching her back and didn’t really know what to expect last night while she was at the BET Awards. She was terrified that she would run into Chris all night and was literally always watching her back.”

“It was weird to be on pins and needles the whole time but that is exactly what things felt like for her,” the source added.

Attempting to adhere to the restraining order which keeps Chris 100 yards away from Karrueche, BET Awards producers made accommodations. According to TMZ, producers placed Karrueche in a holding room during Chris’ performance (she reportedly didn’t watch). Chris was also never in the audience; he remained backstage the entire show.

TMZ also reports that the two were invited to the show prior to the restraining order. However, they did give Karrueche notice that Chris would also be in attendance.

Karrueche was granted a 5-year restraining order against Chris earlier this month after alleging he made several violent threats via text messages since their break up. She also revealed he was physically abusive during their relationship.

Near the end of the BET Awards, SZA gave the audience a wonderful performance medley of tracks from her recently released album Ctrl.

Despite a bumpy start due to technical difficulties behind the scenes (Sidebar: A BET Awards show is not a BET Awards show without a few obvious snafus), the TDE songstress powered through her performance, singing “Love Galore” (sans Travis Scott) and “The Weekend.”

Watch below:

Following her performance, someone on Twitter compared SZA to Erykah Badu, who seemed to throw a little shade, but quickly explained what she meant.

Tamar Braxton Gives Emotional, Show-Stopping Performance of “My Man” at 2017 BET Awards

Say what you want about Tamar Braxton (and we say a lot), but the girl has vocals for days. Tamar gave a show-stopping performance at the 2017 BET Awards.

Giving one of the best performances of the night, Tamar sang “My Man,” a song that was inspired by her parents’ divorce. While Tamar gave an emotional performance center stage, several love triangles were acted out by dancers around the stage.

She completely brought the house down with her exquisite vocals. And she knew it too! Tamar ended her performance by dropping the mic and walking offstage. She received a well-deserved standing ovation.

Tamar’s only misstep was the wig she chose to wear on her big night. Other than that, her performance was flawless!

On a personal note, Tamar’s performance was a great reminder of why I love music so much.

I’ve already watched it several times, but you can watch Tamar’s 2017 BET Awards performance below:

Xscape Proves They Still Got It, Performs Three-Song Medley at the 2017 BET Awards

The wait is finally over! Fans have been hyped to see Xscape perform together since the group announced its reunion. Xscape performed at the 2017 BET Awards and it’s almost like time stood still.

The popular 90’s girl group performed their hits “Understanding” and “Who Can I Run To” before closing their set with the classic “Just Kickin’ It.” All four women had their own individual moments to shine and sounded phenomenal individually. However, we were blessed with true Xscape magic when they hit their harmonies perfectly.

The three-song medley was a preview of their upcoming reunion tour, set to kick off in July at the Essence Festival. After an 18-year hiatus due to tension within the group, the grown women worked through their issues and announced their reunion in March.

A reality show chronicling their comeback is also set to premiere in November on Bravo.

Big Sean Delivers Memorable Visual Performance of “Sacrifices,” “Moves” & “Bounce Back” at 2017 BET Awards

Sometimes less is more. Big Sean gave a simplistic performance at the 2017 BET Awards and, yet, his could possibly be one of the more memorable performances of the night.

The rapper performed a medley of “Sacrifices,” “Moves” and “Bounce Back.” For the most part he performed solo, with just a digital version of himself mimicking his moves displayed on a large screen.

However, in “Bounce Back,” the digital Big Sean was replaced by male dancers that appeared off-screen and multiplied during the song. The group of men, including Big Sean all danced in unison. He ended the performance, again, alone on stage.

The absence of any distractions such as fire, a fog machine, major set pieces, or even a troupe of female dancers, allowed for Sean’s rhymes to speak for itself. And they’re definitely worth a listen.

Mary J. Blige Holds Nothing Back During 2017 BET Awards Performance With Help From A$AP Rocky

Mary J. Blige was playing no games when she stepped onto the BET Awards stage! The R&B legend showed off her revenge body in a shimmering halter top and cape, paired with sheer striped pants as she straight up told her estranged husband to go to hell.

As she always does with every performance, Mary left it all on the stage as she opened her performance with “Set Me Free,” a song that is most definitely inspired by her soon-to-be ex-husband Kendu Isaacs.

“How you fix your mouth to say I owe you / When you had another b*tch and taking trips and sh*t / With my money for so long / You must have lost it, n**ga, you won’t get a dime,” she sang. These were direct jabs at Kendu as he allegedly cheated and misappropriated her money during their 13-year marriage.

“There’s a special place in hell for you,” she sang from the song’s chorus right before she transitioned into “Love Yourself.”

Complete with a horn section, vintage Lincoln, and several men dressed in Black Panther Party-styled attire, the second half of Mary performances had a throwback feel that everyone could groove to (while also appreciating the song’s message of self-love).

Meanwhile, A$AP Rocky’s surprise appearance took the performance to a new and unexpected level. Kanye West is featured on the original “Love Yourself,” but A$AP’s verse gave the song a fresh take the audience welcomed.

Thanks Mary, for showing the kids how it’s done!
