WATCH: Roddy Ricch Honors Kobe Bryant While Performing “The Box” on ‘The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon’

Roddy Ricch has already taken over 2020 and we’re barely a month in.

Fresh off his first Grammy win, the Los Angeles rapper/singer took to the stage on “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon” to perform his hit single “The Box,” which is currently the #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 for the the third week in a row.

Roddy Ricch, who performed inside of (you guessed it!) a box, also made sure to honor the late Kobe Bryant by rocking a purple and gold No. 8 Lakers jersey during his late-night TV debut.

“The Box” is from Roddy’s debut album Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200.

Roddy won his first Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance for “Racks in the Middle” (featuring Nipsey Hussle) this past Sunday night (Jan. 26) at the 2020 Grammys.

After his big Grammy win, he posted a photo of himself hugging Nipsey’s girlfriend Lauren London on Twitter. He captioned the photo: “One of the greatest moments was seeing her sile cause Hussle got one.”

Roddy is currently touring the country for his “Antisocial Tour,” which concludes on February 15th in Denver, Colorado.

White Man Wears Blackface to Rob Maryland Bank

Want to get away with a crime? Just blame the black guy.

This was at least the warped logic of one white man who robbed a bank and attempted to obscure his identity not with a mask, but by wearing blackface.

Maryland police believe a white man robbed a PNC Bank on Tuesday (Jan. 28) instead of a black male despite the description the teller gave to police.

“We interviewed the teller, and the teller gave us a description of a black male, five-seven, five-eight, 180 pounds,” Perryville Police Chief Allen W. Miller said.

At the time, they had no reason to doubt the description and sent out an alert for the robber who left the bank in a Ford Focus getaway car.

But when police checked the surveillance footage, everything changed.

“They found out by looking at the glove area, between the glove area and the jacket, this was actually a white male we’re looking for. So initially, the call out was for a black male. It turned out to be a white male in a black face.”

The photo of the suspect in blackface has since gone viral. And though the robber is still at large, Miller says they have received several tips since in the past few days.

“We’re getting calls from all over,” Miller said before noting the stupidity of the robber.

“To cover his face, you know, the blackface and to not cover his hands—not a very smart character, but it’s not a matter of ‘if’ we’re going to catch him. It’s a matter of ‘when’. He’s by no means the smartest bank robber out there.”

Police did not reveal how much the robber stole from the bank. He handed the teller a note, she gave him the money in her drawer and he escaped.

Police believe he is a white male, around 5-foot-five and in his late 20s or early 30s.

There have been several other incidences of white criminals using blackface to commit crimes.

New Couple Alert: Rihanna & A$AP Rocky Really Are Dating, Reportedly Shared an NYC Hotel Suite Earlier This Month

There’s a new Hollywood couple getting hot and heavy and the two aren’t exactly keeping their relationship private.

After being spotted together at several major events over the past few months, it seems Rihanna and A$AP Rocky are officially a thing … just weeks after Rihanna broke up from her billionaire boyfriend Hassan Jameel.

A reporter for The Sun reports they can confirm that Rihanna and Rocky are dating, but the relationship is very casual at the moment.

The two were spotted earlier this month getting close in New York. A source tells the outlet the pair even spent the night in the same NYC hotel suite.

“They shared a hotel suite during that trip in New York,” the source said. “However, Rihanna is reluctant to put a label on it as it’s so soon after Hassan.”

The source continued:

“They’re really enjoying each other’s company and taking things easy as it’s still early days. It’s really casual between them and she’s not thinking about whether there’s a future with Rocky. She’s a newly-single girl having fun.”

Rihanna and Rocky were seen chatting at the 2020 Yams Day Benefit concert earlier this month, they walked the British Fashion Awards red carpet together in December, and RiRi even attended Rocky’s concert in Stockholm.

The pair also have some history. They were reportedly spotting kissing backstage back in 2013 when she appeared in the rapper’s “Fashion Killa” video.

Rocky has also been romantically linked to Kylie Jenner, Kendall Jenner, Chanel Iman, Rita Ora, and Iggy Azalea.

Rihanna just broke up with billionaire Saudi businessman Jameel after three years of dating.

“Their lives were too different and it was hard to maintain a relationship,” a source said of the break-up.

Rick Fox Shares How Rumors He Also Died in Crash With Kobe Bryant Affected His Family: “It Shook A Lot of People in My Life” (VIDEO)

Rick Fox joined several NBA figures last night to remember Kobe Bryant, who, along with his 13-year-old daughter GiGi and seven others, tragically died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California.

While consoling each other in their grief, Fox broke his silence for the first time regarding early reports and rumors that he had also been on the helicopter at the time of the crash.

“My family went through, in the midst of all this, something that I couldn’t imagine them experiencing,” he said.

Fox also added that one of his daughter’s “greatest fears” is learning through social media that one of her parents had died.

When it was first reported that Bryant had died in a helicopter crash on Sunday (Jan. 26), there was much misinformation being spread on social media, including that Fox—Bryant’s former Lakers teammate—had also died in the tragic accident.

This was not true and, unfortunately, amidst mourning Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Fox’s step daughter had to make a statement debunking the rumor.

During Tuesday’s special edition of Inside the NBA, which also included Dwyane Wade, Shaquille O’Neal, and Charles Barkley, Fox shared that while trying to process Bryant’s loss, his phone began blowing up.

But he ignored the calls because he only “[wanted] to be with my friends and my family” at the time.

He finally answered a call from his best friend, King Rice, and that’s when he learned of the rumor.

“I’m seeing King’s number repeatedly going and going and going, and I think he’s worried about me…so I answered…and he just was bawling.

“And I started crying. And he was like, ‘You’re alive!’ And I was like, ‘Well, yeah. Like what do you mean?’ And it was in that moment that my phone just started going, and my mom and my sister and my brother…This has been a lot to process for all of us.”

“I’m glad that’s over with, but it was hard to deal with because it shook a lot of people in my life,” he added.

Reflecting on Bryant, Fox added: “Quite frankly, we were blessed to have had the time we had with Kobe. A city is mourning, a family is mourning, we are all mourning.”

Family Friend Reveals How Vanessa Bryant is Coping With the Devastating Loss of Her Husband & Child: “She Can Hardly Keep It Together”

The world continues to mourn and process the loss of NBA great Kobe Bryant. But no one is grieving more than his longtime wife, Vanessa Bryant, who also lost her second-born child in the fatal helicopter crash.

Seeking privacy during this unimaginably difficult time, Vanessa recently made her social media accounts private and she has not made a public statement since the crash on Sunday (Jan. 26) that left nine people dead including her husband and 13-year-old daughter, Gianna.

However, People is the first to give us an update on how Vanessa is coping. And, as one would imagine, she’s struggling, but also trying to remain strong for her three young daughters.

A source tells the magazine that Vanessa is “devastated.”

“She can hardly keep it together. She can’t finish a sentence without crying. But she is working very hard to pull it together for the other girls. She now has to be the strong one.”

The source said Vanessa is reeling after losing her soulmate and daughter, but has a strong support system.

“Of course, you can never be prepared for this. Despite their ups and downs, [Vanessa and Kobe] were soulmates. She thought of him as her partner for life.”

“[Vanessa] is surrounded by people who love her and love Kobe,” the insider added. “She has a good support system. She is relying on her faith. She is not alone. But she will be grieving this for a very long time.”

Vanessa and Kobe married in 2001; she was 18 and he was 22. They had four daughters together. The widow is now left to raise Natalia, 17, Bianka, 3, and 7-month-old Capri without the help of her life partner.

We join all the others in sending our heartfelt condolences to Vanessa and the girls.

Five-time champion Bryant played in the NBA for 20 years, spending his entire career on the Lakers. He retired in 2016.

At only 41, Bryant died in a tragic helicopter crash on Sunday (Jan. 26), along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, and seven other passengers.

NBA has not commented on any plans or requests to change its logo. However, commissioner Adam Silver did release a statement regarding Bryant’s death.

“For 20 seasons, Kobe showed us what is possible when remarkable talent blends with an absolute devotion to winning…But he will be remembered most for inspiring people around the world to pick up a basketball and compete to the very best of their ability.

“He was generous with the wisdom he acquired and saw it as his mission to share it with future generations of players, taking special delight in passing down his love of the game to Gianna.”

Kobe Bryant Spotted on a Date With 3-Year-Old Daughter Bianka the Day Before His Tragic Death

Kobe Bryant was a dedicated father to the very end, without even realizing it.

On Saturday night (Jan. 25), just hours before he and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna died along with seven others in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, Kobe was seen spending quality time with his 3-year-old daughter Bianka.

TMZ Sports obtained exclusive footage of the 41-year-old and his second-to-youngest daughter hanging out at the Fashion Island mall in Newport Beach the night before the tragedy.

The footage shows them playing at the shopping center’s koi pond and walking through the stores.

Via TMZ:

We’re told they looked adorable together — just enjoying each other’s company.

The Bryants were regulars at the mall and other local spots. In other words, it wasn’t unusual to see Kobe around town with his kids.

At that moment, Kobe had no idea that would be the last time his 3-year-old daughter would see him alive, which makes the footage extremely devastating to watch.

Not even 24 hours later, on Sunday morning (Jan. 26), Kobe and Bianka’s older sister Gianna (aka “GiGi”) were tragically killed when the helicopter they were flying in crashed en route to GiGi’s basketball game at Kobe’s Mamba Sports Academy in Thousands Oaks.

GiGi’s team, the Lady Mavericks, were playing in the Mamba Cup basketball tournament and Kobe was expected to coach.

The tournament was later canceled and video footage showed the team in a somber moment mourning Kobe, GiGi and the other passengers’ tragic deaths.

Spending quality time with his four daughters was very important for Kobe, which is why he even started riding in helicopters in the first place.

In a 2018 interview with the Barstool Sports podcast “The Corp With A-Rod and Big Cat,” Bryant said his decision to use helicopters as a method of transportation came from him wanting to be a doting dad while also trying to balance his job as a star player for the Los Angeles Lakers.

As most people know, L.A. traffic is the absolute worst. And with his wife and kids living in Newport Beach, and him working over 40 miles away in Los Angeles, solely relying on ground transportation would make it nearly impossible for him to be an always present dad while also being able to regularly train and attend practices with his teammates.

“Traffic started getting really, really bad, right? And I was sitting in traffic, and I wound up missing, like, a school play because I was sitting in traffic,” he explained.

“I had to figure out a way where I could still train and focus on the craft but still not compromise family time. And so that’s when I looked into helicopters, to be able to get down and back in 15 minutes. And that’s when it started.”

Kobe said riding in a helicopter provided him with the privilege of being able to fly back home to Orange County after practice in time to “get back in the carpool line” to pick his kids up from school

“My wife was like, ‘Listen, I can pick ’em up.’ I’m like, ‘No, no, no. I want to do that,’” he recalled.

“Because, like, you have road trips and times when you don’t see your kids, man,” he added. “So like every chance I get see them and spend time with them, even if it’s 20 minutes in the car, like, I want that. Right? So that would be my routine.”

It’s sad knowing that the same thing that allowed a busy father to spend more time with his children also took him away from them. Even sadder is the fact that one of his children perished along with him.

All nine passengers of the helicopter have since been identified, including Kobe and GiGi, husband-and-wife John and Keri Altobelli, ages 56 and 46, respectively, their daughter, Alyssa, 45-year-old Sarah Chester and her daughter Payton, Christina Mauser, 38, a basketball coach at Gianna’s school, and the pilot, Ara Zobayan, who was 50.

An investigation has been launched to determine what exactly caused the copter to crash, though officials are speculating that heavy fog in the area played a major role in the tragedy.

It’s been said that Zobayan was a very experienced pilot who had flown Kobe and his family (and other celebs like Kylie Jenner) in that same helicopter for years.

It was just two months ago that Kylie rented the Sikorsky helicopter for her niece Dream’s (Rob Kardashian’s daughter) third birthday.

View this post on Instagram

Happy Birthday Dream 💙💙

A post shared by Rob Kardashian (@robkardashianofficial) on

Kylie addressed the crash on Monday (Jan. 27) via her Instagram stories, posting a photo featuring all nine victims along with a poignant message about always keeping your loved ones close.

“Rest in peace..and prayers to these families,” she wrote. “I still can’t believe this. That was the helicopter I would fly on from time to time with that pilot, Ara. He was such a nice man. Hold your loved ones close.”

As of Monday afternoon, officials said they’d only been able to recover three of the nine bodies from the crash site, though they didn’t specify the IDs of the victims who’ve been found.

Officials worked well into Sunday night, but were forced to suspend the search due to darkness and safety concerns, TMZ reported. They continued their search Monday morning, but haven’t released any updates about whether any other remains had been recovered.

Kobe and Gianna Bryant are survived by wife/mom Vanessa, and daughters/sisters Natalia (who just turned 17 years old on January 19th), 3-year-old Bianka, and Baby Capri, who will celebrate her first birthday on June 20th.

Kobe Bryant and his second-oldest daughter Gianna were among nine people aboard a private helicopter flight Sunday morning that crashed northwest of Los Angeles in Calabasas, California. The group was reportedly on the way to a basketball game Gianna’s team was playing in.

There were no survivors, and the cause of the crash is unknown, but a federal investigation is underway.

The crash came just one day after James surpassed Bryant to become the NBA’s third-highest scorer of all time. Kobe’s last Twitter post was him congratulating LeBron James on the accomplishment.

LeBron and his teammates, as well as Lakers coaches, found out about Kobe’s death while on the team’s private jet flying back to L.A. from their game in Philadelphia the night before.

After the plane landed, a visibly emotional James was seen in news camera footage wiping tears from his eyes as he walked off the tarmac.
